Gambling addiction
For most people, gambling is a source of fun and entertainment. But there are some people for which it can become a problem. At some point it can take over your life, having a negative impact on you and your surroundings and it can make you feel guilty or bad. Someone is addicted to gambling once he/she starts spending too much time and money on gambling. A problem gambler still has some level of control over his/her gambling behavior but a gambling addict had become so dependent on gambling that he/she needs a gambling fix every day – just like a drug or alcohol addict. The fact that this brings him/her into severe financial and/or social problems at home and work will no longer withhold him/her from gambling.
One sign of a gambling addict is loosing sight of limits that were set – even by him or herself. Every time a limit or border has been reached it will get crossed. The excitement of gambling brings the addict into a state of ecstasy. As long as the addict is gambling there are no problems in his/her world, not even the problems resulting from the addiction itself. So keep it under control and keep it fun!
